M3. Discussion: The Bundle of Rights - Which One Matters Most in the Digital Age?

Copyright law gives creators a bundle of exclusive rights, including the rights to reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, and create derivative works from their creations. In a digital environment where content can be copied, altered, uploaded, and shared almost instantly, protecting these rights can become increasingly challenging.

Consider how digital technologies, social media platforms, streaming services, artificial intelligence, and other online tools have changed how copyrighted works are created and used. In your response, address the following:

Which right from the copyright bundle do you believe is most at risk in today’s digital environment, and why?
How have online platforms, digital technologies, or current trends made protecting this right more difficult?
Can you think of an example from current events, online platforms, your profession, or your own experience that demonstrates this challenge?
What is one step creators can take to better protect this right in an increasingly digital and global marketplace?
Do you think one copyright right is more important than the others, or does the bundle work effectively only when all of the rights are protected together?
